We are looking for an enthusiastic editor to join the Editorial Team at the Journal of Landscape Architecture and take over the Under the Sky section.

Established in 2006, JoLA is the peer-reviewed academic Journal of the European Council of Landscape Architecture Schools (ECLAS). We publish research in landscape architecture and also encourage unconventional and emerging forms of research enquiry including those employing practiced-based methodologies, those having their origins in visual and artistic practicesand media (Thinking Eye), and those espousing new methods and rigour for the developing field of landscape architecture criticism (Under the Sky).

Under the Sky aims to develop the scholarly critique of built projects as a basis for landscape architecture research and as a prompt for design practice and theory building. Critical reading of any built landscape architecture project under the sky may be submitted, on any scale from territory to garden, anywhere in the world. Graphic and visual discourse is considered a key element in the argumentation. Critical review of completed works is considered as equal to, and edited as stringently as, any other research article.

What are we looking for?
Our new Under the Sky editor is an innovative academic at a European university, with a research interest in landscape architecture criticism and project interpretation. Preference will be given to those with a track record in both landscape architecture practice and academic research. Knowledge of the academic peer review process, experience in reviewing papers for academic journals, good written communication skills, and a reasonably good level of English would be ideal!
We need a new editor with the enthusiasm to help shape JoLA by upholding our mission to sustain a platform for innovative research at the practice theory interface in landscape architecture and related fields.

What does the Under the Sky editor do?
• Edits the Under the Sky section, by scouting out potential projects, encouraging submissions, managing the peer-review process and guiding articles through to publication. We need three compelling project critiques each year.
• Cultivates academic reviewers in landscape architecture criticism.
• Keeps abreast of important case studies and project paradigms in landscape architecture and allied disciplines.
Takes part in at least one stimulating, highly collaborative editorial meeting per year in diverse European locations.
• Promotes JoLA to the wider academic community.
