A screen shot from January 2007 records the number of database entries on the web site as being just below 21,000. An additional 9,000 entries have been made in the last 2 1/4 years.

However, while this may sound impressive it actually represents far less than one entry per week, per school registered on the web site over this period. Many schools have been, what one might diplomatically call, ‘passive’ during this time, leaving the task of developing the content of the web site to only a few active universities. Entering information on the web site is an important precondition for developing the discipline further. Dialogue, discourse and deliberation are central to the development of any academic discipline, the LE:NOTRE web site provides a unique tool to facilitate further this process in landscape architecture. If we fail to understand and grasp this potential, the project will continue to under-perform and the many opportunities it offers will go to waste...
