Faculty Position in Landscape Architecture

Focus: Landscape Design and Site Construction

The Department of Landscape Design and Ecosystem Management at the Faculty of Agricultural and 

Food Sciences at the American University of Beirut (AUB) invites outstanding candidates to apply for 

the full-time faculty position in Landscape architecture at the level of Assistant Professor, or 

higher. The target starting date of the appointment is August 15, 2019. The position is a full-time, 

nine-month, tenure-track position. Appointments are for an initial period of four years.

Position focus: The focus of the position is on construction aspects of landscape design. Candidates are 

expected to have professional and teaching experience in the full process of landscape architectural 

projects: from design conception, development, execution drawings and supervision. Experience in 

landscape contracting of projects is a plus. In addition to design studio courses, the candidate is 

expected to lead the three courses unit on site engineering. 

Qualifications: Applicants should possess a Master’s degree in Landscape architecture or a PhD in a 

related design or construction field. The candidate must have demonstrable experience in landscape 

projects technical design development with emphasis on sustainable approaches to site construction and 

management in leading companies. At least five years’ experience is a plus.

Responsibilities: Teaching and developing the three courses unit on site engineering and teaching or 

assisting in design studios; research on sustainable landscape materials and site management and 

implementation; and service to the department, faculty and the university.
