DESIGNING A CONTEMPORARY INITIATIVE TO ADVANCE THE LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURE EDUCATION IN EUROPE
Budapest has been the snowy venue of a Multiplier event aiming to disseminate and enrich project EU-Land21: “Trans-European Education for Landscape Architects” (Nr. 2016-1-LT01-KA203-0232019) funded under the Erasmus+ Strategic Partnership programme. The consortium gathers universities from Hungary, Poland, the Netherlands, Estonia and Lithuania, together with International Federation of Landscape Architects (IFLA-Europe).
The session tackles on the impact of European education networks on the student’s outputs and focuses on the project EU-Land21 outcomes for the social partners. Therefore a heterogenic audience was gathered to discuss on the project presented by the consortium member’s representatives, integrating academia, stakeholders and professionals.
The session aroused interesting points for Landscape Architecture Education, specially debating on the need for contemporary spatial designers to move, visit and share knowledge across Europe in order to further develop the professions in all its facets.
Furthermore the conversation led to discuss on legal requirement in the different countries, the importance – and difficulties to bridge- of mobility and on the requirements for the LA European studies as well as the criteria for European Education framework of IFLA EU and ECLAS.
The outcome of the intensive multiplier was inspirational, contributing with suggestions on teaching methodologies, questioning the contemporaneity of certain subjects, recognizing the expected requirements or expectation of the professionals and stake holders to increase employability and finally on how this would reflect on a social basis.
