Candidates are required to demonstrate experience of creating and delivering original, high-quality research in, or relevant to, the field of Landscape Architecture.

For the position of Senior Lecturer, the candidate will be expected to maintain and develop their own substantial research profile and contribute, through collaborative endeavour and leadership, to ESALA’s culture of research, design, and teaching. The candidate’s own research agenda may encompass the production of publications, exhibitions and/or outstanding and innovative design work, and she/he will be expected to seek external sources of research funding that contribute in a meaningful way to the profile of the school. She/he is expected to have significant leadership, management and teaching experience relevant to the advancement of Landscape Architecture as a discipline.

For the position of Reader, the candidate will be expected to meet all qualifications required for the Senior Lecturer position. For the position of Reader, the candidate will also demonstrate international recognition for her/his research; have a record of substantial publications and research grants; and have made recognizable contributions to the discipline of Landscape Architecture through advisory work, knowledge transfer, and/or advanced professional practice, among others.

For both Senior Lecturer and Reader positions, the candidate will supervise post-graduate research students and lead on developing a strategy to advance research within the school. The candidate should articulate a vision for future research development, ideally engaging with the work and vision of OPENspace research centre and the multidisciplinary context in which future research funding is likely to be attracted.

For both Senior Lecturer and Reader positions, the candidate will deliver teaching, as appropriate, within the undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in Landscape Architecture.
