Applications are invited for appointment as Tenure-Track Professor/Associate Professor/Assistant Professor in the Division of Landscape Architecture in the Faculty of Architecture (Ref.: 520181), to commence as soon as possible on a three-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal and consideration for tenure before the expiry of a second three-year fixed-term contract. Appointment with tenure may be offered to outstanding and qualified Professor/Associate Professor candidates.
The Division of Landscape Architecture seeks a research-active scholar who is an established or emerging leader in at least one of the following fields:
1) Heritage conservation, with a focus on interdisciplinary research that bridges conservation with other built environment disciplines and the evolving role of heritage in achieving environmental and social sustainability.
2) Landscape architecture and environmental history, with a focus on non-Western perspectives and critical approaches to the political, social and ecological dimensions of the environment.
Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree in a subject area relevant to conservation, landscape architecture, or environmental design. They should demonstrate a track record of academic research publications and success in securing competitive research grants. Preference will be given to those with relevant experience in teaching at the university level and course/curriculum development.
The job duties of the appointee include but not limited to, help building and sustaining our leadership in the areas of environmental history and theory and help shaping and delivering a strategic vision that builds on ongoing research and pedagogical initiatives within the Division’s Landscape and Conservation programmes.
A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income. The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary. Housing benefits will be provided as applicable.
