Full Professor and Chair of Landscape Architecture (LAR) (F / M)
We are looking for a full professor of Landscape Architecture (0.8-1.0 fte), who will lead the chair group Landscape Architecture (LAR).
As head of the LAR group, the chair holder is expected to lead and contribute to the development of education and innovative research. The chair studies – through research and design – how the landscape has originated, in what condition it is now and what functional and sustainable future perspectives there are. Special attention is paid to sustainability (energy and water supply, climate change), metropolitan areas, the intertwining of urban and rural areas, and the planning of large open spaces. In Wageningen landscape architecture is characterized by a thorough tradition of connecting physical landscape genesis with anthropogenic land use. In this context the chair has always paid special attention to the countryside and the role of landscape in urbanization processes, both nationally and internationally. This renders the chair a typical Wageningen niche.
Moreover, the chair holder will further strengthen the position of the group in national and international networks and manage the group’s internal processes and relations in an effective and constructive way. LAR is one of the two chair groups in the joint Landscape Architecture and Spatial Planning group at Wageningen University & Research.
We ask
To accomplish this, we expect the new chair holder to have:
− relevant academic education, holding a PhD;
− a clear view on the scientific and societal relevance of this discipline and the willingness to take part in the social debate;
− an inspiring vision on the role and position of landscape architectural research and education within the themes of Wageningen University and Research;
− ample experience in research in landscape architecture and an affinity with spatial analysis, as shown by publications in leading international journals and by participation in international networks;
− motivating teaching, supervising and course development qualities, at Bachelor, Master, and PhD level, and interest in developing novel teaching methods;
− an integrative and interdisciplinary attitude in research and education;
− an evidently successful track record in research acquisition from different sources;
− coordinating, stimulating and initiating qualities with respect to research and the dissemination of its results among both society and scientific media in this field;
− managerial skills as an inspiring effective team player with a connective coaching management style;
− for foreign applicants: willingness to learn Dutch.
